Louise and Mathias meet with their group of friends for the first time in a long while, and they suddenly notice how others see them as a struggling family. The friends' extravagant children's birthday party not only lowers their self-esteem but also makes Svend, their five-year-old son, realize that he has never had a proper birthday party. Mathias and Louise decide to use Svend's birthday party to prove to the world that they are not a struggling family.

Mathias realizes that he can't remember the last time he went out on the town. You should be able to do that kind of thing, even if you have young kids so now Mathias and Sigurd are determined to prove that they are by no means too old for a proper night out. Meanwhile, Louise is struggling at work, but instead of cutting back on hours, she decides to convince her boss that she can handle her job and more.

Louise and Mathias feel financially inadequate. Mathias believes there's no money left for even the smallest bit of adventure, and he's feeling incredibly under stimulated. Louise suffers from low self-esteem due to her sister Laura's glamorous life and now sets out to show Laura and the rest of the world just how good her family can look. Will Mathias' hunger for adventure be satisfied with internet porn, and can Louise buy her way to a more impressive-looking family?

To appear capable and on top of things, Louise invites her parents to move in while their home is being renovated, even though the family is already struggling with sleepless nights and Svend's lacking bathroom habits.

Mathias and Louise learn from the daycare's assessment that Svend is developmentally behind, rated as orange on a green-to-red scale. This unsettles Mathias who decides he can no longer tolerate his own "orange" life and seeks a new career
