There was so much hype around this series that I actually was anxious to start watching it. Somehow my instincts were telling me I'd be disappointed. And they were right.
Its story is too boring and drags too much. The story was cliche. A girl going abroad and falling in love with the first guy she meets in that country?!! And in such a big city, they meet just a few while after? How many people can say such coincidence happened to them? The story is just unbelievable.
The dialogues are also kind of childish and corny. And the way the characters behaved and reacted in situations were unrealistic.

The first episode of the drama made a lasting impression. It is a beautiful mix of all Japanese and Korean sensibilities. Love is the universal language.
The real strength of this show is its writing. The writing, the dialogues, how scenes are developed. It makes you realize how the 'writers' are different from web series or webtoons. Without any disrespect to web-series writers, the writers writing for a fiction book, work differently. It is like a seed, sowed, watered, tended and taken care of till it reaches a maturity - a time-consuming process by a patient person.
It reminded me of The Outlander, War of the Worlds, Lord of the Rings etc. The literary touch of excellence.
Actors and director is doing a fine job bring it to visual medium. Do Not miss this one.

Korean Drama '' What Comes After Love '' is a romantic melodrama about two lovers from different countries and different views on love.
The drama handles the back and forth nicely, even though the timeline wasn't linear. Still, it was easy to follow and that approach gave the drama more edge and the story more emotional impact.
The story itself was interesting, though there were times, like the final episodes, that it was a series of miscommunications that got things frustrating. Also, that is when the drama started getting into tropes.
Still, the performances were all great by everyone in the cast.
So, overall, seven out of ten.

I totally get what other reviewers are whining about when they say there are too many flashbacks in this series. Because, wow, they're not wrong. It's like every time you blink, bam, we're back in the past, replaying the same sad, emotional moments that got us here. Maybe a few less flashbacks would've made this series a bit less of a time-traveling headache.
Is it a heartbreaking story? Yeah, absolutely. And it got me good. I won't lie, this series made me cry like a baby at the most unexpected moments. You think you're safe? Nope. One minute you're rolling your eyes at the drama, and the next, you're wiping away tears. The emotional punches land.
But honestly, you can't help but get invested. There's a reason they keep dragging us through the past-because the emotional payoff eventually hits hard.

I so much wanted to love this series. I found the ML (first time seeing him in anything) extremely appealing, and the FL was good as well. However, by the time the credits rolled at the end of Episode 6, I felt like screaming at the writer. I had expected that at least in the final episode, the emphasis would be on the present day, but no, we were subjected to more repetitive flashbacks. I always feel cheated when this happens. Writers seem to use excessive flashbacks as fillers for content rather than provide more development of the storyline and/or main leads.
I will try to find other series or movies in which this ML appears after feeling shortchanged by this production!
