Against the backdrop of a highly charged city council, this investigation traces the origins of the conflict between the Coalition Longueuil and citizen groups (in the province of Quebec, Canada), through broken political commitments and revealing public consultation reports. Mobilized against the St-Hubert airport operator, DASH-L, who wishes to significantly increase their flights, these angry citizens denounce Mayor Catherine Fournier's support for the promoter despite the fact that the impact studies have still not been revealed to the public, thus breaking her electoral promises. The instrumentalization of the notion of social acceptability by political and economic forces that generate anger and confrontation with communities in a context of global crisis is highlighted.
