Her unique upbringing of being raised in multiple cultures and having a dance background shows in the way she emotes and tells jokes, something that is very specific to Atsuko. I love how the jokes are not just stand alones but live to also make the greater themes and arc of the whole hour connect.
You know you're watching an instant classic when you turn this one. It's incredible!! And stay tuned for the deconstruction of a Dad joke in the end!!! Chef's kiss!!! Father is the perfect title.
I've been a fan since I saw her perform in Berkeley for The Intruder. I'm excited to see her come back to the Bay Area at the Masonic this fall!

This morning I watched Atsuko's new special "Father" & it was really great! I loved Atsuko's first comedy special "The Intruder" & was so happy she's been given the great opportunity to make a new one! I laughed my butt off & highly recommend it if you're looking for something funny to watch. She opens up more about her own experiences in life & with her family. I'm happy she's been able to reconnect with her own father. Happy Father's Day Atsuko!!! Thank you for sharing & uplifting us with your comedy & great personality! I look forward for what's to come in the future & hope one day to see her live in person!
I enjoyed Atsuko's take on life. Her observations and stories are clever and she comes from a very positive place. A very wholesome and funny stand up routine. Her honesty and self acceptance are charming and life affirming. Her sense of timing and physical movements add to the routine.it was fun to see some of her childhood photos during the credits. I saw her on TikTok with her grandmother. It was very cute. I was curious to see her longer special on Hulu and I wasn't disappointed. Her backstory is really interesting. She should go ahead and grow out her hair if she wants too! I think her fans will still recognize her. Lol.
I love how cerebral her jokes are! And SO SO relatable. It's a "If you know you know" type situation. If you didn't think this special was funny, then it's not for you haha me on the other hand, I couldn't stop laughing! Everything from her comedic timing to facial expressions - she's a genius. And... I FEEL SO SEEN! Highly recommend her special on Hulu. My parents even asked if we could watch the next episode hahah I wish she had more content! Until the next special I guess. We'll be waiting for you, Atsuko. Keep it up! It's a must watch. Don't let the lame reviewers bring you down...FATHER POWER.
I've been following Atsuko's bright brand of comedy for years, so I know about the trolls and hate she gets. People who want to dim her light!!!! First off, one of the reviews says he "never usually rates movies" LOL you just gave yourself away, you never watched this. This is a standup special, not a "MOVIE." Then proceeds to not say anything specific about the jokes or name any of the themes or stories she talks about!! Same with the other hateful review, "This show isn't supposed to come out until tomorrow" what? Are you stupid?? You just gave away that the special hasn't come out yet yet you're writing a review just to downgrade her! Sad pathetic men who are mad they are not spreading love and happy like she is.
