Her Locket

A movie with multiple layers, on the surface the film is about an elderly lady with dementia and the people around her at different points in her life. However, peel the layers and there is telling commentary on greed, ambition, family, social norms, racism and gender bias. Even people who are flawed have redeeming qualities and those who seem to be really good people have their own inner demons that they constantly struggle with. While some parts may seem a little cliched, they fit perfectly into the overall scheme of things. What defines the film is its sensitivity and subtlety. A beautiful film which deserves a much wider audience.
