When Gleb's wife Liza vanishes on New Year's Eve and is accused of murder in a distant town, he journeys to Ovrazhe to uncover her hidden secrets while fighting to prove her innocence.
Gleb loves his wife madly. On New Year's Eve, his Liza disappears. The next morning, Gleb learns that she is accused of murder in a remote town where she could not possibly be. Gleb goes to Ovrazhe and unravels the tangle of unsightly secrets that Liza hid from him. But, despite everything, he obsessively believes in the innocence of his beloved and will do anything to save her.
