I decided to watch it, in spite of the negative reviews, and feedback from friends and colleagues.
Unlike some here, I was always a fan of Philip Schofield, a very talented interviewer, and someone with a nice guy aura. I was hoping to watch this, and see him put his hand up and say something along the lines of.....I made a mistake, forget anything like that.
All I heard, is woe is me, poor me, I'm the victim, what the man did was categorically wrong, he used his position, his influence to groom, and I'm sorry, but it's just wrong.
45 minutes of why Philip thinks he's innocent, the reality is, it's just way too soon for something along these lines, people have had no time to forget, all this will do, is reignite people's feelings.
Philip, you need a break, and so does the public, this was a massive misfire, and Channel 5 should be ashamed. My sympathy is still with your wife and children.
2/10.

Interesting how the few positive reviews dwell upon his unwise relationship or openly say they love him whatever. Personally I think it seems Schofield can be an unpleasant person for whom an unwise move in qeue gate brought his attitude to the fore and started the bus engine. His unwise relationship, which shouldn't be used to cancel him on its own and I don't believe it was, helped him fall not get pushed under the bus.
I realise his personality is not the sole subject of this review but it is highly relevant. Give him a platform to vent and it's impossible to keep up the positive nice guy for the whole ten days plus. The mask slips and we see the narcissist and true person come to the fore feeling aggrieved and victimised by events created by his own hand.
Extremely poor TV as it was netiher dramatic , entertaining nor educating and served only as a soap box.
I don't know who in ch5 thought this was a good idea but they've done no one any favours.

I was flicking through the iPlayer last night and came across Philip Schofield Castaway and started to watch with my wife and actually found it very interesting so much so we watched all 3 episodes. It is very thought provoking and sometimes very funny and sad but whatever we think of Philip Schofield he is not a bad person just his human like all of us and we all make mistakes in our lives don't we.
Keep smiling Philip.
Keep smiling Philip.
People need to quit with the morality policing and pearl clutching, Schofield did nothing more heinous than having a dalliance with a younger guy at work, so what?! He didn't break the law, he didn't kill anyone, and how was he punished - with pitch forks and torches - driven out of tv - it's bizarre, we seem to love a downfall from success in this country, leaping at any chance to drag folk down - it's actually pretty distasteful. On this program we saw a pretty well rounded guy considering what he's been through , often playful and funny, philosophical and grateful for what he had, I'd be bitter as a an unripe papaya if it were me, tried in the public court of human opinion by idiots like Holmes who on reflection needed to get his own house in order / it might do people to remember the old adage he who is without sin ..
This show has got to be the most narcissist thing I've seen in a long time. What was he thinking!
I've personally never been a fan of Phillip and Holly Willoughby. I even struggled watching them on This Morning. All they ever did was cackle. I looked forward to the holidays and Fridays when they weren't on.
So when the news broke about him and his indiscretions, I was relieved to hear that he may never grace out tv screens again.
Then I saw this show advertised. I thought I'd watch purely for my own amusement at seeing him embarrassing himself.
Yes he had an affair, which is wrong.
I think most people can admit that there's huge age gap relationships going on all the time. That's not the problem. It's the grooming. He knew 'Matthew' as a young school boy, mentored him, helped him progress a career within ITV then starts a sexual relationship with him. Making him sign a NDA. It all reeks suspicion.
After everything, he had three episodes to try redeem himself, but he didn't. He just blamed everyone else for his wrong doing. "Oh poor me, I was sacked and lost everything" Spare a thought for a young misguided lad who is reported to be troubled and has to live with all this.
Hopefully this documentary shows he's done now on TV and won't be presenting anytime soon.
