Georgia O'Keeffe: The Brightness of Light

An excellent, informative, and emotional overview of O'Keeffe's art and life. It's aided by O'Keeffe's prolific output, a great deal of which is shown -- her work extends over more than 80 years. If I see the film again, I'm going to count, but I'm estimating at least 200 works are shown. I've seen reproductions of her work, but seeing them on a large screen is so much better. (Albeit not as good as seeing them in person!)

O'Keeffe's life is examined as well, aided by clips of O'Keeffe herself as she appeared in some films late in her life. She wrote prolifically too, and the film's use of her writing, read by Claire Danes, is smooth and leaves the desired impression of O'Keeffe speaking. Also included are many of Stieglitz's photos of her.

There are some talking heads, but they are all very well informed and well spoken. Their commentary is tightly edited, and helps in particular to explain the various stages of, and influences on, O'Keeffe's work.

I knew a good bit about O'Keeffe, but learned a lot from the commentary and the plethora of images.
