I had to constantly push the (what I call the) "bump-forward" button over and over, in order to get past the ridiculously slow-paced yammering that went on, with the repetitive plinky-plink piano music constantly going on (except for when something from an antagonist is going on, and then there's dead silence music-wise).
Like others have said, it's pretty much a K-Pax rip off. I'm thinking some stoned Mormon college students saw K-Pax and said, "Ooh, hey, what if K-Pax is really like Jesus or something?"
Utterly predictable in plot, but the fact that it's got a cohesive story is the ONLY reason I gave it a 2/10 rather than 1/10. If it had no cohesive storyline then it'd be in the realm of "Plan 9 From Outer Space". But really P9FOS is better than this movie because it's so silly. This film is as stiff as a board, as dull as arithmetic, as cloyingly sappy as drinking fake maple syrup straight up, without even a hint of a pancake.
Thankfully the "bump-forward" button exists or I wouldn't've made it to the end of this film. It's an utter waste of time. There are WAAAAY better films that the folks on MST3K make fun of. This one is pure crappolla. Don't waste your time.

And so it did. I felt so compelled by this motion picture that I had to write this review. I went to YT and found Simon Marriott's "trailer" for it. I realize it was merely the first 4 minutes. But I quickly posted on FB so my friends might find it. Why? It moved me. OK it moved me to tears. Tears which were trying to be released from my body for weeks. I finally felt cleansed and peaceful. A peace which I needed so badly. I am not concerned with whomever might have found this corny, prosaic or ingenuous. I am at peace with myself.
OK - NOW about the movie. I won't tell you one bit of the plot and for good reason. Suffice it to say, many people will like it and many people will not. The fault does not lie with the movie itself. But what you bring into it.
The actors, beginning with the perfectly cast, SIMON MARRIOTT, were superb. Marriott brought a perfectly natural gentleness to his portrayal without ever once feeling forced. He really "made" the experience for me. The rest of the cast, in fact, were all so spot on, it was a pleasure to experience their performances. From the smallest to the largest role.
This is a movie which must be experienced with no expectations or reservations, or any such limitations.
I want to personally thank, first TONY CLARKE, it's writer and director. You've really made a difference in my life and I want you to know it.
That's all I am going to say. Any more wouldn't be right.

I tried to watch it.. I gave up after 30 minutes. The characters, were clichéd and cardboard.. cookie cutter plot According to the other good reviews. it must get better.. But I didn't have the patience after 30 minutes that could have been condensed to 10.. save your energy and time and watch something better..
Poor acting, terrible plot, long winded and ridiculous. Not a fan. I wouldn't even bother giving it a watch.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. True the acting and directing was below par at times but in another sense it gave the film a gritty reality to the production. The film is gentle, realistic in its depiction of bullying and with regards to the attitude of staff in low paid, low esteem occupations. Yes some aspects are somewhat unsophisticated; if you go beyond this it is a well crafted story that has surprisingly caught the issues of mental health very well indeed.
Watch it and enjoy.
