Jamie Bell in TURN: Washington's Spies (2014)

Goofs

Pilot

TURN: Washington's Spies

Edit

Continuity

During the ambush at the rebel safe house, Captain Simcoe takes a shot in the chest. Afterwards, he is shown with a thigh wound.
When Captain Joyce is showing his bandaged hand to Major Hewlett, he holds it up. In the very next shot from behind Joyce, his hand is at his side, and there was not enough time for him to move it there.

Factual errors

Cabbage is harvested in the fall. The scene showing the discovery of grubs shows lush green vegetation instead of fall colors if not bare trees.
Candles are used throughout whilst daylight outside. Candles were very expensive and would only be used when it was totally dark outside. They would make no difference to the light indoors whilst natural daylight was coming through the windows.

Revealing mistakes

In the opening scene of Abe's farm, there are jet contrails crisscrossing the sky.

Anachronisms

The British flag is inconsistently shown. In 1776, it consisted of the cross of St George (red cross) over the cross of St Andrew (a white saltire) on a blue field. In 1801, a red saltire (the cross of St Patrick) was added. Usually, the correct flag for the time is shown but on occasion the British flag of 1801 is displayed, even though it didn't exist at the time of the American Revolution.

Character error

Captain Joyce refers to "His Majesty's Royal Army." The term "Royal" was used with the British Navy and Marines (and later Air Force), but not the Army.
