Exclusive: Prolific Italian producer Andrea Iervolino has set his sights on another film about the world of motor racing, with the announcement that he is developing a biopic about motor sports legend Bruce McLaren.
The iconic New Zealand driver and engineer died tragically young but left a legacy in Formula 1 history, with the McLaren Racing team he founded and left in his wake.
The film will tell the story of a man who, from a very young age, had to overcome significant physical and personal challenges.
At the age of nine, McLaren was diagnosed with Perthes disease, a rare childhood bone disorder that affected his left hip and forced him to spend more than two years in hospital with his leg immobilized in a traction device. Rather than stopping him in his tracks, this challenge ignited a passion for mechanics and racing cars, fueled in part by his father,...

Italian Film Chief Resigns Amid Probe Into Tax Credit for U.S. Producer Now Accused of Double Murder
Nicola Borrelli, the longtime head of the film department at Italy’s Ministry of Culture, has resigned amid an escalating scandal involving a $1 million tax credit awarded to a film that was never produced, for a producer now accused of a double murder.
Borrelli stepped down late Wednesday, just days after Italian Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli personally escorted law enforcement officials into the ministry’s offices to seize documents related to the case. The scandal centers on Stelle della Notte, a feature film project that received €863,595 (circa $1 million) in production tax credits in 2020 through a program overseen by Borrelli’s department. Despite the funding, the film was never made.
The application for the tax credit was submitted by Tintagel Films, a company fronted by 46-year-old U.S. citizen Charles Francis Kaufmann, who operated under the alias Rexal Ford. Tintagel Films partnered with the Italian company Coevolutions, which had control of the funds,...

Al Pacino became the first movie star granted a private audience with Pope Leo Xiv on Monday, arriving at the Apostolic Palace with producer Andrea Iervolino and colleagues from the biographical drama “Maserati: The Brothers.”
A statement issued by Iervolino said the conversation revolved around family unity, service, and compassion—values he believes the automotive-pioneer story shares with the new pontiff’s teachings. The 84-year-old actor presented the pope with a scale model of the 1939 Maserati 8Ctf and spoke briefly about the film’s plan to shoot scenes in Vatican City later in the week.
Pacino portrays Vincenzo Vaccaro, an early financial backer of the racing dynasty, in the English-language feature directed by Oscar winner Robert Moresco. Cameras have been rolling since late May in Emilia-Romagna, and North American rights were recently picked up by Magenta Light Studios, positioning the picture for a wide 2026 release.

First there was Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend, the 2022 film starring Frank Grillo and written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Robert Moresco (Crash). Then came the higher-octane Ferrari, the 2023 biopic directed by Michael Mann, with Adam Driver, Penélope Cruz and Shailene Woodley. Now, in Rome’s famed Cinecittà studios, another legendary Italian supercar manufacturer is being immortalized in Moresco’s Maserati: The Brothers, with Italian actor Michele Morrone playing one of the three siblings who founded the trident brand in 1914. (Anthony Hopkins, Andy Garcia and Jessica Alba also star.)
The producer behind all three films, 37-year-old Italian Canadian Andrea Iervolino, is bringing these automotive origin stories to the screen at a time when Hollywood is going motor mad. Witness the forthcoming F1 starring Brad Pitt, or the recently announced Austin Butler and Tom Holland movie American Speed, or the fresh rumors that Tom Cruise plans to reboot his 1990 NASCAR movie Days of Thunder.

As some of the tabloid-favorite men and women of the early Aughts, Jessica Alba and Michael Weatherly fit into a more underrated definition of the “it couple.” The duo’s sudden escalation into television glamor was underlined by their on-screen pairing in Dark Angel and an “inevitable” off-screen romance.

Despite the growing cultural obsession over the 19-year-old sci-fi heroine, Jessica Alba was far from affected by all the hullabaloo that surrounded her. However, Michael Weatherly had already been through several life-affirming events, including a marriage, a child, and a divorce by the time he began to feel romantically inclined toward his teenage co-star.

For Jessica Alba, Hollywood is not the same playground it used to be in the early years of her career. Even so, the Fantastic Four actress remembers a time when prejudice and bias took precedence over talent and she received the short end of the stick in that regard.

But very similar to her case, the music legend Jennifer Lopez has faced criticism time and again throughout her career. Be it as a singer, a dancer, an actor, or a businesswoman, Lopez’s fight against the industry inspired Alba somewhere along the way. Later, it was her brutal experience that made the actress apathetic to the socio-political progress within Hollywood circles.

Exclusive: Andrea Iervolino, the Italian producer of sports car biopics Ferrari, Lamborghini: The Man Behind The Legend and the upcoming Maserati movie, is revving up a biopic of Ettore Bugatti.
Bugatti is slated to film late next year in Italy and France for Iervolino’s new banner, The Andrea Iervolino Company.
