Evocative, subtle and deeply moving.

Former editor Susan Korda takes the well traveled road of editors moving into the directors chair with her first narrative production, Salomea's Nose. Spanning several decades it's clever story keeps surprising with each beautifully modulated turn. Instead of telling her audience what to feel or think, writer/director Korda uses the acting, production design and cinematography to allow the audience to find their way to the films heart. In a time where one joke or idea has become not only the norm but the requirement, it's inspiring to watch an artist try and succeed in making a film that allows its characters lives to be complex and understandably while never diminishing the mystery that finally defines life. And like all really masterful work the film stays with you like a half remembered dream.

Exquisite, Oscar-worthy Short Filmmaking

I was privileged to attend the European premiere of SALOMEA'S NOSE at Berlinale Talents yesterday; and am still glowing from its energy, wit, cinematic prowess and emotional resonance. Rarely do you see a Short Film that accomplishes so much, and so exquisitely. I would go so far to say that SALOMEA'S NOSE deserves an Oscar and Bafta nomination, and I very much hope the producers submit the film for consideration. A heartfelt congratulations to all involved, and especially the writer-director Susan Korda for bringing all elements (visual, dramatic, narrative, production design, costume, make-up, music and editorial) together so intuitively. A must-see Short!....

like a flavor

It is a perfect film, from cinematography, acting, make-up, costumes, voice of comentary, atmosphere. It is not exactly part of a genre but useful ball of memories, with splendid humor, wise family portrait, drawing of passing time and happiness and childhood. A splendid film. Like a flavor.
