Broken Butterfly: The Perfect Shade of Blu

An engaging adult psychodrama where the sex part didn't overwhelm the drama/dialogue portions. The basic setup is that Jewelz Blu (going by Juliet) underwent some (unspecified) traumatic event and buried the more adventurous part of her life, sexually and otherwise. But she can't keep it hidden forever and it starts to break back into her reality. Aside from having an interesting premise, it was a cut above current adult films by not following the usual "sex at regular intervals" format, instead starting off small and building to something explosive (not unlike Behind the Green Door from last night). And at 80 minutes* of movie, it never wore out its welcome. Other good aspects included a fun electro score, creative editing to show mental fracturing, and a couple scenes where Jewelz Blu actually got to show off some acting chops. Overall, while it definitely felt small-scale and low-budget, it showed that there can still be quality productions in a business/genre that currently prioritizes short-form gonzo content.
