Saw this movie in a tiny theater on Rio de Janeiro last September during the MOSTRA DO FILME MARGINAL. The audience laughed and gasped during the whole thing.

I think the movie talks a lot about the Brazilian experience of this days, dealing with mixed culture and contemporary themes such as LGBTQ+ rights and anxiety. Everybody who lives in Brazil knows how they love each other and still can have huge feuds about politics, soccer and even their favorite beer. This movie reminded me of the first time I saw the culture of this land. Hope it gets a bigger theatrical release. The team talked about how they made this movie with little to no-budget, so even a no-brazilian can say, give this movie a chance.

It is so lovely to see a movie with so much courage. The movie navigates from comedy to drama without you noticing. It touches important themes to the LGBTQ+ community here in Brazil and all over the world.

But what made me love this movie was the tiny details, cheers to the art direction. The character PASTOR, who befriends the protagonist in a way really got me thinking, the movie casted a transgender man (almost a boy) to a role that represents a social class that often has struggles to deal with LGBTQ themes. The movie does not care to explain it a lot, and I love it, trans people just exist in so many ways and are free to have their own beliefs.

Brazil still being one of the most dangerous places in the world to the LGBTQ+ community, I have to congratulate this independent movie for thinking outside the box and still giving a chill movie about identity.

My opinion is that a film that talks about blackness, African religion, mental health and homosexuality will certainly have its haters. But don't believe the bitter ones, this film is destined to be seen. It's a Brazilian and accessible story about serious themes.

And it is this team's destiny to reach as many Brazilians as possible, because WE need these stories to be told.

Casebre is a powerhouse as a truly Brazilian artistic manifestation. Recorded on the outskirts of the country's capital, the plot could take place anywhere in Brazil and brings us a valuable sense of belonging.

The characters are developed in a deep and sincere way, showing their strengths and their demons. Through their complex and sometimes paradoxical relationships, it is impossible not to create empathy and root for these characters.

The plot is exciting and unfolds based on real problems involving spirituality, sexuality and responsibilities. The empowered performance of the protagonists, the beautiful art direction and above all the original music transform the film into a complete synesthetic experience.

Casabre is about redemption, it's about dreams, it's about family relationships in their entirety. Casebre is Ancestrality.

As the director said while talking to me on their online page, will come the day where movies will be made by anyone with a good idea.

This movie has little budget, you can see that even with the efforts (well made efforts) of the creative team. Specially the Cinematography by Renato Villas. But beyond that, you can see a beautiful story for Brazilian people to connect with. No one can take that away. Brazilian mixed-race spirituality and experience, the way our society moves and sometimes breaks.

Casebre is a first-time movie, and it must have been scared, but with little budget the movie achieves what it has to, touches the audience.
