I watch The Simpsons out of loyalty now as I've been watching it since the start when I was 19. Im now 55! I never laugh out loud anymore and before you think well you're old now, I've also been watching it from the start and I'm half way through Season 6. I sometimes have to pause it because I'm laughing so much and that's at jokes I've already heard and seen a few times. One thing I've really noticed watching the early ones along side the new ones is, Marge sounds so old now. Julie Kavner is 75, no wonder! Sorry this was not about this episode which was average at best. Wish I was saying this was amazing but it's not. Sorry.
I used to like the Simpsons, but over the last couple of years, I've noticed a clear decline in the writing. That's it. It's 100% a writing problem. The cartoon itself looks better than ever, but the writing is crap.
If a story isn't fun, it's because the writer lacks creativity; if the story is dumb, it's because the writer is dumb as well. The art has improved over the years, and it's sad to see the writing hasn't done the same.
Is this because of Disney? I am genuinely uncertain, but it appears that they are now destroying nearly everything they touch. If it weren't for their lucrative parks, I'm confident they would have gone out of business long ago.
Why are they ruining all of these already great franchises?

I've been out of the Simpsons universe for years, even though I used to be a big fan. And it seems I haven't missed much since I left. The series was entertaining, full of humour of all kinds, with wow-effects and iconic scenes. In other words, everything this special doesn't have. Well, I don't want to be too harsh, but it's certainly too little of everything. The quality I'm familiar with was only ever there in nuances. If you have a little patience, the special episode gets a little better as it progresses, but that can hardly be the status you expect from this legend. The zenith has obviously long since passed, and an end in greatness was unfortunately missed. Not a gift to old Simpsons fans.
A new Christmas episode/short film of The Simpsons that surprises in such a way that you can have a pleasant and entertaining moment. With an interesting, comedic premise that stands out for those reflective messages seen in just 45 minutes.
The entire aspect of its animation, color tones, drawing, sequence of movements, and so on, maintains that essence from both past episodes and seasons.
This short film covers themes such as evil, deception, disbelief, ignorance, malice, friendship, faith, religious beliefs, actions with a positive end, the Christmas spirit, and a reflection of how many people spend the holidays before their traumas, problems, or momentary feelings. Additionally, it gives depth to the characters in different aspects not seen before. Of course, all of this with the characteristic dark humor of our yellow friends. And yes, The Simpsons has that great surprise, which is why it's worth giving it a chance.
The references to Hollywood stars, series, and movies are very well portrayed, adding more context and comedy to the story, not to mention that they are entertaining moments for fans of various franchises.
The narrative argument of this short film is interesting, but poorly executed at times. Adding so many characters and subplots at times disconnects the viewer's experience, sidelining the original premise and neglecting the potential of the script. Perhaps those could be its negative points.
However, it is enjoyable, has its good moments, and if you like this franchise, it will be worth it.
Ned steals the show for the most part.
