In a world of sequels, spin-offs, prequels and remakes that are mostly garbage, the Dexter franchise stands out by delivering one brilliant show after the other. With Original Sin back in winter 2024/25 they revolutionized how to cast younger actors that look exactly like their original and it was phenomenally good. With Dexter Resurrection they go all in, since Dexter New Blood already has been a sequel to the original show. I had my doubts but after the first episode they are eliminated completely!!!
What a great idea taking it to New York where Harrison follows the footprints of his father, following the dark passenger. The same charm and great humor of the original show keeps being alive, thanks to the amazing performance of Michael C. Hall.
Honestly, with that kind of quality, they may do even more Dexter shows in the future.

The pilot of Resurrection smartly leaps forward from the underwhelming finale of New Blood. Dexter survives a near-fatal gunshot and emerges from a coma ten weeks later, immediately setting the tone for high stakes: his son Harrison is now in New York, and Miami Metro PD's Angel Batista is resurrected back to the plot with more questions than sighs. Michael C Hall is back with full force. His portrayal of a recovering, determined Dexter feels authentic and deeply tense-struggling between burying and succumbing to his darker urges. The Pilot episode is a gripping and confident restart for the franchise. By reconnecting Dexter with his son, respecting returning characters, and introducing surreal ghost visits from some familiar faces, the episode balances nostalgia with fresh thematic weight.
YEP WE BACK. Im so ready for this. This has been a long journey season 1-4 absolute cinema 5 and 6 eh 7 good but then heres the problem, 8 was garbage, new blood was good but ofc a rushed ending. Thankfully the writers improved and with original sin actually ending a season off with beauty and good writing made me so excited for resurrection and IM SO GLAD IT WAS WORTH CUZ THIS FIRST EP WAS AMAZING THE NOSTALGIA THE MUSIC THE NYC VIBE. It was great to see Batista again but oh what couldve been new blood..It wouldve been great without rushing it and actually concluding dexter correctly. Anyway i guess i shouldnt hate because if we didnt have those two horrible endings we never wouldve gotten original sin and now RESURRECTION so lets look forward to next week cause i know this is gonna be peak.
The first episode ended up being better than I expected. Loved the long anticipated reunion between Dexter & Batista and how it was handled. The hallucinations didn't feel forced & it was nice to see a brief callback to some old characters in them. At the end of New Blood, I wasn't a fan of Harrison like most people. But in this show, I see some potential for a good story involving him & Dexter. We get introduced to some of the new characters as well. I'm not sure how to feel about them right now but time will tell as more episodes release. NYC feels like a great place to tell more Dexter stories so I'm looking forward to seeing where this story will take us!
