After their car breaks down during a road trip in rural Australia, Oscar - an aspiring teenage filmmaker - and his father, Tim. must journey to a deserted pub in the middle of nowhere with the hopes of finding a mechanic to fix their car. However, two men in the run-down pub recognise Tim as an Ex AFL football star, Oscar is swept into a drunken environment that progressively fuels Tim's ego. Seeking the admiration of his father, Oscar attempts to prove himself via feats of 'masculine' behaviour, hoping to become one of the men. However as the beer flows, the cracks in Tim's ego deteriorate as does the pristine image of his father. As Tim's pride burns through the last remaining cash and avoiding to take responsibility he must question if his father truely is the hero he believes to be. Eventually forced to redeem his fathers mistakes, Oscar is confronted with a harsh reality : is he destined to become like his washed-up father desperately clinging to past glory, or does he push through and truly become a better man?
