Rediscovering Varanasi Through Cinema

The Great Departure gave me a completely new perspective on Varanasi. What I truly appreciate is how the film didn't rely on the usual "dark and chaotic" portrayals we often see - instead, it showed the city's calm, spiritual, and deeply human side. I don't think I've ever seen Varanasi depicted this beautifully before. The visuals, the atmosphere, and the quiet emotion in every scene made me want to visit the city myself. I was also lucky enough to meet the director at the Paris premiere, which made the experience even more special.

Saw the movie at the Paris Premiere and really enjoyed it.

Strong directing and the actors were great.

Moving story of 2 people looking for themselves.

Also an open book to discover India, I really recommend.

These days it s pretty rare to find movies like this, intimate, quiet in a good way but also funny at some point.
