Rani Mukerji, who plays a crime branch officer in the film, met Mumbai Police Crime Branch chief and trained in Krav Maga, a street-fighting self-defense system developed for the Israeli military, as part of research for her role.

The song "Kajra Re" from Bunty Aur Babli (2005) (which also stars Rani Mukerji) can be heard towards the beginning of the film, ringtones play the song "Tune Mari Entriyaan" from Gunday (2014), the song "Tere Mere Beech Mein" from A Pure Desi Romance (2013) is heard on TV as is "Kamli" from Dhoom 3 (2013), and characters discuss Dhoom (2004).
