Alan Shepard's daughter, Laura, was in Seventh Grade in St. Louis, Missouri on the day that her father made the first sub-orbital flight into space. The Principal took her to a private room to watch her father's famous flight. The rest of the class watched the lift-off and flight in the homeroom.
