Horse girl trainer Jo Kitahara is searching for a star that the people can put their hopes in, but has little luck in finding such a racer in the rural town of Kasamatsu.

Kitahara tells Oguri Cap that he intends to have her win the Tokai Derby. Both Oguri Cap and Belno Light join Kitahara's team, and he immediately has them prepare for Oguri Cap's debut race.

Oguri Cap narrowly loses to Fujimasa March after her shoes fall apart from overuse. Belno Light helps Oguri Cap buy a pair of sturdier shoes that will be able to handle her greater strength, which Oguri Cap greatly appreciates.

Belno Light attempts her debut race, but realizes she has no talent for racing. At the Junior Crown, Kitahara encounters his uncle Musaka Ginjiro, a national level trainer, who has also come to observe the race.

Kitahara, Oguri Cap, and Belno Light head to the Chukyo Hai, where they meet Musaka again and are shocked to learn that the championship racer Symboli Rudolf is personally observing the race.

Symboli Rudolf criticizes Kitahara for forcing Oguri Cap to deal with such a stressful dilemma.

Both Oguri Cap and Belno Light transfer to the Tokyo Tracen Academy under the temporary care of Musaka and are welcomed by Symboli Rudolf.

As the race starts, Oguri Cap notices that both the inner and outer routes are blocked. However, she recalls Musaka's advice.

Symboli Rudolf petitions directly to the URA Chairwoman to allow an exception for Oguri Cap to race in the Japanese Derby.

Seeing that Oguri Cap now lacks a clear goal without the Tokai and Japanese Derbies to look forward to, Musaka takes her to observe the Takarazuka Kinen and give her a preview of her future competition.

As Oguri Cap prepares to race in the Mainichi Okan, Musaka warns her that due to her fame, the other racers are likely to team up to deny her any favorable position.

In a flashback, a young Tamamo Cross and her mother search for a place to live in Kasamatsu, but are unable to find any vacant housing. In the present, Musaka coaches Oguri Cap.

Oguri Cap and Tamamo Cross begin racing head-to-head at the finishing straight, as Tamamo Cross gradually runs out of stamina.

Vowing to win against Tamamo Cross after her fall Tenno Sho defeat, Oguri Cap throws herself into training. Her classmates soon inquire about her next race, prompting Dicta Striker to challenge her directly.

Fumino Nase, already hailed as a genius at her young age, declares her intent to enter her trainee, Super Creek, in the Kikuka Sho. Among their competition is Yaeno Muteki. In this battle across 3,000 meters, only one racer can win.

The international G1 event, the Japan Cup, is fast approaching. One by one, the participating Umamusume trickle into Japan from all over the world, including the Italian champion of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, Toni Bianca.

Stepping onto the turf at the Japan Cup, Oguri Cap and Tamamo Cross are reunited for the first time since the fall Tenno Sho. As each racer reaffirms their hopes for the race, an ominous smile spreads across Obey Your Master's face.

There once was an earnest Umamusume who gave racing her all, but had nothing to show for it. Still, she craved victory more than any other, so one day, she made a choice. She'd bet everything on a single race across the Pacific.

Outclassed by Tamamo Cross and Obey Your Master's use of the Zone, Oguri Cap suffers another bitter defeat. Her confidence takes a hit as she feels the gap between her and Tamamo Cross now more than ever.
