Horse girl trainer Jo Kitahara is searching for a star that the people can put their hopes in, but has little luck in finding such a racer in the rural town of Kasamatsu.
Kitahara tells Oguri Cap that he intends to have her win the Tokai Derby. Both Oguri Cap and Belno Light join Kitahara's team, and he immediately has them prepare for Oguri Cap's debut race.
Oguri Cap narrowly loses to Fujimasa March after her shoes fall apart from overuse. Belno Light helps Oguri Cap buy a pair of sturdier shoes that will be able to handle her greater strength, which Oguri Cap greatly appreciates.

Seeing that Oguri Cap now lacks a clear goal without the Tokai and Japanese Derbies to look forward to, Musaka takes her to observe the Takarazuka Kinen and give her a preview of her future competition.
As Oguri Cap prepares to race in the Mainichi Okan, Musaka warns her that due to her fame, the other racers are likely to team up to deny her any favorable position.
In a flashback, a young Tamamo Cross and her mother search for a place to live in Kasamatsu, but are unable to find any vacant housing. In the present, Musaka coaches Oguri Cap.
Vowing to win against Tamamo Cross after her fall Tenno Sho defeat, Oguri Cap throws herself into training. Her classmates soon inquire about her next race, prompting Dicta Striker to challenge her directly.
Fumino Nase, already hailed as a genius at her young age, declares her intent to enter her trainee, Super Creek, in the Kikuka Sho. Among their competition is Yaeno Muteki. In this battle across 3,000 meters, only one racer can win.
The international G1 event, the Japan Cup, is fast approaching. One by one, the participating Umamusume trickle into Japan from all over the world, including the Italian champion of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, Toni Bianca.
