In the same spirit as the Shazam/Isis Hour, characters from both Hero High and Shazam guest-starred in each other's segments. Isis from the Secrets of Isis also made a guest appearance in Hero High.
The main characters are analogues of Archie Comics' characters. Captain California is primarily based on Archie Andrews, his rival Rex Ruthless is based on Reggie Mantle, Glorious Gal is based on Betty Cooper, her rival Dirty Trixie is based on Veronica Lodge, the teacher Miss Grim is based on the teacher Miss Geraldine Grundy.
First aired as part of The Kid Super Power Hour with Shazam! (1981). The same people who provided the voices hosted that show as their Hero High characters.
Filmation originally intended to use the character cast of Archie Comics in this series, but the company's rights to the Archie characters had expired. The company created vaguely similar characters as replacements.
