Dining with the Kapoors

I really liked this documentary. It gives us sneak peek into the famous filmy family of India - the Kapoors. The documentary showed the more humane side of the family members, making them more accessible to the wider audience. The footage from the archive collection also helps the watchers to emotionally connect with the family. As someone working in the GLAM (Gallery, Library, Archives and Museums) sector, this can be a good case study of how archives and family legacy shapes the current family dynamics and why people want to preserve their heritage in first place.

This was genuinely a good watch. Real people, regardless of celebrity status, coming together with real emotions for their love of "family, food and films". The part when the older events happening at the Cottage with the Younger Kapoor Clan and even pictures of all the older/previous celebrities was heartfelt and does trigger some emotion. All those people, their conversations and energies of existence at some point, together, definitely delivers high nostalgic emotions. The only part that is lacking are so many people missing from this 100 birthday celebration. If the value of this was about reminiscing childhood and carrying on traditions, not showing so many of the family's current children was odd.

I wish they'd done this better. This family had so much potential to make this documentary so much better.

But mostly ended up being propaganda for Armaan Jain's cooking and then just a loud, unfiltered, well dressed hour of family members chit chatting and reminiscing.

Maybe this isn't what I was expecting - I felt based on the name this would go deeper into the rituals of food. But all I got was "ghee on everything"

This is so wholesome ! Bringing the whole kapoor family together is amazing. It is as if we are in their dining room. The first family of Bollywood always has meant so much to us. Also, family get togethers are becoming rarer and rarer. A timely reminder that all families should do this ! This is so worth watching . Go and watch now and give the movie some love.

Waste of an hour of my life.

Very weird people who seem to think of themselves to be akin to royalty the way they talk about lineage.

There was no real drama or interesting talk. Just kept talking about how great it is to be in kapoor family. Felt inauthentic.

Nepotism at its finest.

Just because you are kapoor doesn't automatically mean you are better than anyone else.
