I had the privilege of watching this documentary last night at Lisbon's Tribeca Film Festival and for the first time ever I considered the film to be much better than the book that originated it! Don't get me wrong, I loved Rita Lee's autobiography, she's an amazing writer! But in Rita's case, incorporating the imagery and the sound into her life story left us speechless! The documentary is a mix of Rita's own footage of the last years of her life with the very public shows and songs that we all know and love - at 56 years old I can say I've been in love with Rita's music from the moment I was born, as my own mother was a fan of Rita (what young woman from the 60s or 70s was not in love with Rita, right?!) My only regret is that this documentary will not have the global reach it most certainly deserves! What a glorious way to celebrate the life of one of the most amazing goddesses that stepped on this pathetic little planet!
