Hell Motel has a nice premise that became overly complicated

Slasher series was decent but this went seriously sideways

No one to root for. Totally illogical and kind of lame. I think they overthought this one and ended up with a dud. I'm thinking about turning it off at the beginning of episode 4. Please do better. The time jumps and the truly hateable characters in a situation where they could easily get out of makes no sense. The killings weren't good. Too much dialogue and worse, it was boring. I had high hopes for this but this is just non sensical garbage at this point. Will it get good soon? Who watched this and said "yeah this is great, people will love it." Seriously I want to know. I'm typing this while it plays it the background btw. Ugh.

Sloppy acting, lazy writing

I watched Slasher for the gore and the acting was sub par but this is unbearable. The writing is unimaginative and the acting is unwatchable. This is just a complete waist of time and as a horror fan, I'm disappointed to say the least. The horror genre is almost inherently cheesy which I like but this is just embarrassing. Get rid of 95% of the cast and maybe pay a little more for some actual talent. There are maybe 2 decent actors but that's it. Even so, most of the dialogue is just completely cringey and awkward and it seems as if they wrote much of it in a hurry with no standards. Don't waste your time on this series. I'm ashamed I did.

For fans of the Slasher series

Hell Motel seemingly resonates well with fans of the Slasher TV series. A lot of returning cast members, and the carnage we all are familiar with of the series. At times it becomes a bit over the top, but it's best to go in knowing nothing. Satisfying show with a sub par ending. Where will Slasher go next? Is this the end? I certainly hope not.

I tried; it failed.

I tried to watch this, because it sounded like an interesting enough premise. But, as is so often the case in horror, even a solid premise cannot compensate for poor execution.

I was able to overlook the dodgy opening scenes, with the jarring time-jump filled with random characters in medias res with a burning RV.

But then an otherwise perfectly legit-seeming hobby-Satanist started to consistently pronounce "Baphomet" as "Baphomé", like its a fine Bordeaux that pairs well unbaptized baby meat or a brand of infernal bath beads, I decided that if the series creators cared that little about the content of their show then I cared even less.

What the hell?

The first seven episodes were decent enough leaving the final episode that would reveal all and explain who the killer was and why the killings took place. Had that been the case I would have probably given Hell Motel an 8 or even a 9 rating. Unfortunately, the final episode revealed nothing about the identity of the killer and made the watching of the preceding 7 episodes a complete and utter waste of time. I did learn one thing from watching the series, and that was that Genevieve DeGraves is absolutely gorgeous. :P.

Slasher: Hell Motel

Hell Motel is a Slasher/Horror/Drama series. It is part of Slasher, but has been launched as a seperate series because they did not know if they could finish it on time. I really liked this Season of Slasher. Many action and nice new actors this time. I really liked Paula Brancati again on the series. 7/10!

Worth a shot. Better than expected.

So admittedly I went in to this series with minimal expectations since it's difficult to find a decent horror movie or series anymore and I am frequently regretting having wasted my time. But I've been pleasantly surprised with Hell Motel. The characters are interesting with their own backgrounds that range from fandom to mental illness. There is some pretty violent scenes/kills and I've been very impressed with the actors. Hoping it finishes strong. My only critique is that I was hoping for a deeper dive on the character's histories. They do have flashbacks but they are not too in depth. But there isn't a clear guess for the killer or killers. And depending on how it plays out, I might rewatch it to see if it lines up. But I'd recommend giving it a whirl, it moves pretty steady so you won't tune out or wind up on your phone. Only a few more episodes to go!

The Gouda cheese of horror

If you enjoy cheesy horror with some excessive gore, and you have nothing better to watch. You're not gonna go telling your friends to watch it. But if you enjoyed "Slasher" you may enjoy this. The writing level maybe a tad bit under that of Slasher. You'll know by the first episode if this is for you cause it doesn't get better as it progresses. That first episode tells you exactly what you're getting into.

The guess of the murderer

The man with long hair and beard who was interrogated by the police, was the husband of a woman who was killed in the motel 30 years ago. She left her husband to go on honey moon with her highschool love!! Now the old husband is back to take revenge !

It can be either the chef or the professor .

If you are interested in crime mysteries, I highly recommend you to watch this.

Let me know what are your guesses about the killer. I could make a guess based on episode 3. If you like it, I also recommend you to watch " nine bodies in a Mexican morgue" which has almost the same plot and story line.

Lousy stay

Halfway through the TV mini series that was "Hell Hotel," I knew it felt odd, like the last and worst season in a very mediocre horror series. Well, I was right. It turns out this Shudder-picked-up show was meant as the last season of a show called "Slasher," something I had never watched or heard of. And now, seeing the quality, I never will. Don't get me wrong, the show isn't without its merits. At times through its 8-episode run, I found some of its acting ok, especially an unrecognizable Eric McCormack who is going all in on a smarmy celebrity chef. I also found the gore and practical effects decent on a small budget. The tone is also a kind of cheese to be binged as if for hate watching that I felt compelled to finish. But that's pretty much it. The rest is an infuriating plotline of the dumbest episode-to-episode fodder I've ever seen. No one makes wise decisions, and the killers are all too predictable. No characters are likable, and the whys and hows are painfully stupid. There's nothing really here to justify and the season of TV. I'm sure edited into a 2-hour movie, there might be something fun and easy about it. As a whole, it is a complete bust that exists now as nothing more than background noise while you wash dishes. 4/10.

If your checking after episode 3 ..

Stop watching . Holy moly . I loved it at the beginning. Ohhh the intrigue , great slasher film .

I must be one of the few who did not watch the 6 seasons of slashers. Idk anything about that show.

But after episode 3 I went here to see wtf is going on . I'm so so disappointed there will be no answers at end of these episodes.

Nah I'm out .x.

Checking in!

I am totally LOVING this new series, "Hell Motel", so far!

It has an engaging and entertaining "whodunnit" type of storyline, with plenty of blood and creepiness. (Like that mask!)

I discovered this show by accident, but I have seen all of the other "Slasher" series and enjoyed those too. As well as the rotating cast members, especially Paula Brancati, of "Degrassi" fame.

I've been spoiled by other streaming services, so the only thing I don't really like is having to wait a whole week for the next episode.

While I don't want this season/series to end, I also can't wait to see how it does.

Great so far

So far I like this season better than the Ripper season. It is an interesting premise and I love the backdrop and setting. The characters are interesting and the acting is decent as are the kills. I am engaged so far and look forward to seeing future episodes. It's too bad they are not dropped all at once as I would definitely would binge this. I'm not sure if this is Slasher season 6 or a separate Anthology but I would actually like to see both. I hope they do have a season 6 separately. I like also that they have the same or many of the same actors for recurring seasons. It is almost like American Horror Story in that regards. So far I've been very pleased with the series.

My review of Hell Motel

Honestly, I think Hell Motel deserves a much higher rating than 5.4. It had a really interesting and fresh concept that kept me curious the whole time. The story was engaging, and the ending was actually satisfying - something many shows struggle with! It's definitely underrated and worth checking out.

Great Concept

I love all of the Slasher seasons, it's for sure my favorite horror show. I don't know why they did not just consider Hell Motel the 6th season of Slasher, but instead made it its own thing. The acting in this is mostly mediocre, but I didn't mind, I still loved just about every second of it anyway. The only thing that fell a little flat for me was the final episode. I have no idea what they should have done, but the last episode just didn't seem to fit with the rest of the show. It felt like they had absolutely no idea how to end it, so they made an underwhelming decision. I'll still give it 9 stars, and I'll be watching it again.

Hellishly sloppy series

A sound idea very poorly executed. The writing, acting and camerawork are all substandard, uneven and quite often just bad. Some of the characters are unbelievable, their actions defying rational explanation as they appear to be random. Some of them are clearly in the "psycho" camp rather than rational investigators. For fans of slasher, serial killer series only, who don't care about quality as long as there is plenty of blood and gore. It delivers those in bucket loads.
