The BFG holds Sophie under a waterfall so that Sophie can rinse herself off after being inside the snozzcumber during their unexpected encounter with the gluttonous Bloodbottler giant, just as Kong does for Dwan after acccidentally dropping her in the mud when he has to fight off the ferocious dinosaur- An AT-AT toy can be seen in a boys bedroom.

The shot of the Giant's eye turning into a sun is a concept that came from this adaptation.
- Sophie takes a "leap of faith" out of the orphanage's upstairs dormitory window and is caught by the BFG's hand, just as Indy exhibits total blind trust and takes the "leap from the lion's head" and lands on the camouflaged walkway that spans the chasm. (Both films were Steven Spielberg productions.)
The Abyss (1989)
Sophie's "etherial likeness" appearing inside the dream's bottle as it's created by the dream, just as the water-tentacle creates Lindsey's face; in both cases the entity emulatas the gal's face because "it likes her".
The BFG (1989)
Based on the same Roald Dahl novel.
