Excellent representation of commercial spearfishing
Catching Hell gives an exciting view of the world of commercial spearfishing on the west coast of Florida. The cast is made up of real divers and real captains who do this for a living and are known for their skills locally. With the addition of underwater audio via special dive masks you get to dive along with some of the best spear-fishermen (and women) in the world. You hear their actual narration while the dives are happening and it makes it seem like you are right there with them when they have the excitement of shooting huge stringers of fish, or being stalked by a shark. It's a great adventure series that is fun for the whole family!
"Reality" tv...
An utterly ridiculous, over-the-top show which is about as "real" as American Pickers.
What's more, the filming practices are incredibly questionable in terms of animal welfare. Cameras are accelerated and forced into the noses of small reef sharks to make it appear like the shark is attacking. Utterly disgusting, given the sensitivity of a shark's nose.
Also, we're somehow supposed to believe that seasoned spearfishermen are terrified of reef sharks, when any surfer will paddle around all day with them all day underneath them. We're also asked to believe that these "badasses" routinely ignore the orders of their captains. I'm not talking once in a blue moon - I'm talking 2/3 times per episode. Let me explain what would happen if you went against the orders of a captain... You would NEVER dive on that boat (or likely any other boat) again. There wouldn't be a brief argument, then a makeup "bro hug". You'd be gone. End of story. The skipper's word is absolutely final.
Also, the maintenance guy in the cutoff denim shorts... Don't get me started on him!!
Utterly ridiculous. Unwatchable.

Complete crap!
A series by MAGA people for MAGA people. First 5 minutes where more than enough! Cheap, staged scripts and overdramatised to the brink.
Need more of this amazing show!
Catching Hell is amusing, witty and a wild ride. Every week I tune in to see what the entertainment the spear fishermen have in store for me.
The spear fishermen are entertaining and brilliant in front of the camera. The show shows ingenuity. Fearlessness in the face of crazy times.
Sure it is a bit over dramatic at times but what reality show isn't. It gives you a glimpse into a world you would have known nothing about. Frankly it is important for our world and to have the knowledge of where our seafood comes from and goes too. It teaches us sustainability and acknowledgment of where we get our food from.
I NEED there to be a second season! RENEW WEATHER CHANNEL!
