Brazil's official submission to the 2016's Oscars as Best Foreign Language Film.
Originally titled The Kitchen Door, it was based on Muylaert's own experience with a nanny who cared for her son after she left her own daughter.
In early drafts of the script Jéssica came to São Paulo to become a hairdresser and after failing ended the film by becoming a nanny like her mother.
Filmed in February 2014 in a mansion in Morumbi, an upper-class neighborhood of São Paulo and took nine months to complete.
In December 2015, it was voted one of the top five foreign films of the year by the American organization National Board of Review. In the same month, it was named the best film of the year by the Brazilian Association of Film Critics (Abraccine).
