Like Gump, our main character doesn't fit the mold of the "classic hero." He is awkward, unpolished, sometimes unintentionally funny. But that's exactly why you can't take your eyes off him. Mustafa Basaran, in his own life and now on the big screen, embodies a type of raw authenticity that feels almost extinct in cinema today. His friendship with his loyal dog comar and his endless, almost childlike devotion to Rabia give the movie its emotional backbone.
