Loved it
My kids have always kind of joked about our backyard birdwatching, but these two guys make it cool. On top of it all, you see some really spectacular footage of some really beautiful birds.
There's also this sense of camaraderie the brothers find with other people out on the road. In this time of great divisiveness, it's great to see nature bringing people together.

So great
Listers is a wonderfully funny and beautifully crafted documentary that captures the world of birdwatching with warmth, artistry, heart... and HUMOR. Told through a vibrant mixed-media style, it reflects on two brothers exploring the world of bird watching and watchers.
What makes the film especially engaging is its humor. It's full of witty moments and charming personalities that make you smile, while never losing sight of the genuine passion behind the pursuit. The balance between laugh-out-loud storytelling and thoughtful reflection gives the film a unique rhythm that keeps you hooked from beginning to end.

Breath of Fresh Hair
In this era of corporatized "Content," it is so refreshing, and frankly wonderful, to see a film like this created out of whole cloth by two incredibly talented and creative people unfiltered by focus groups and algorithms and preconceived notions of what niche it has to fit into.
Yes, this is a conventional documentary in how it unfolds. It is told in a very familiar book-like style with chapter and it is clear that the filmmakers are well studied in the art of these types of films. I can't BELIEVE this is their first movie!!!
That said, it feels so fresh and new because it is totally unconstrained with fitting into a Netflix-style box. They simply made the film they wanted to make about a subject they were interested in. And they absolutely hit it out of the park.
As others have said, it is HILARIOUS and the two brothers are very charismatic people (and the main on screen brother has envious hair). But you will also come away from it having learned a mountain of real information about birds and a very complete picture of bird watching as a hobby and the subculture around its extreme elements.
I got the feeling all the subjects were thrilled that someone cared enough about birding to make this film.
It is so rare today to see such a well executed, crystallized vision brought to life by an auteur. Congratulations to these two guys for making this happen and hopefully, they will become successful in filmmaking or whatever they choose to do in the future. I get the feeling they will have every opportunity to do that.
Very inspiring. Outstanding work. Thanks for making my day!

Nature Documentary of the Decade
A perfect blend of engaging humour and genuine, high quality storytelling. I've shared this film with nearly all my friends and every one of them loved it. What the guys achieved on such a small budget is seriously impressive. A fresh and alternative take on capturing the world, with an amateur yet evidently skilled result. I hope they team up again for another project.
They absolutely killed it.
They absolutely killed it.
Flawless executed, stunning visuals, funny as hell.
Two amiable brothers spend the year in their Kia van driving across America to compete in the "Big Year" birdwatching competition. Along the way, we get some of the most stunning nature cinematography that could easily rival NatGeo, informative graphics, tangential journeys, and humorous, authentic interviews with bird enthusiasts and everday enthusiasts alike. The narrative is so compelling and uplifting - I was HOOKED the entire time and was sad when it ended. You won't regret watching this.
