Krillin's cellphone ringtone is "We Are" from One Piece (1999). Mayumi Tanaka voices Krillin in DBZ, and Luffy, the main character in that show.
Jaco the Galactic Patrolman, a character in a "Dragon Ball" prequel comic Akira Toriyama wrote in 2013, makes his feature debut in this film.
This is the first Japanese film to receive IMAX 3D screenings in Japan.
Akira Toriyama came up with the film's concept and title while listening to the song "F" by the Japanese band Maximum The Hormone, who he came to know personally through a friend. The band had in fact composed the song about Frieza. The song itself appears in the film during Frieza's revival.
