Strong Characters, Strong Story
The title of the movie, while not bad, doesn't fully capture the richness of the story. The narrative moves at a steady pace, without unnecessary scenes, and continually surprises the viewer. Predictable twists are avoided, making the story engaging and refreshing. The writing is clear and realistic, with characters whose choices and emotions feel genuine and relatable.
The acting is impressive across the board. Tess Dinerstein shines as Hailey, showing her growth from a naive partner to a confident, thoughtful woman navigating betrayal and forgiveness. Kasey Esser's Edward is both charming and mysterious, keeping the audience guessing about his true intentions. Ali Hamilton's Anna stands out as a layered character, vulnerable yet honest, while Marc Cotter's Jeffrey convincingly portrays a flawed man whose actions cause regret and tension, making his eventual remorse satisfying to watch.
What makes this film truly memorable is how it shows that people are complicated. It avoids simple labels of "good" or "bad," and instead explores human mistakes, intentions, and growth. Combined with solid direction, realistic writing, and strong performances, the story is both moving and believable. It's a film that stays with you long after it ends, balancing emotion, character depth, and storytelling in a way that feels true to life.

Revenge, romance, and pants worth starring in their own movie
Ohhh honey. This movie gave me EVERYTHING I didn't know I needed. Tess, Kasey, Ali, and Marc's chemistry? 🔥 Straight-up combustible. Tess Amelia as Hailey? Iconic. She pretends to lose her memory to prank her boyfriend, but when Jeffrey (Marc Cotter) shoves his best friend Edward (Kasey Esser) forward as her "boyfriend," she's like, oh, we're doing this now? Revenge mode: ACTIVATED. Cue 🎶love is in the air everywhere I look around🎶 and yes, my heart is melting.
The horse-riding scene? 💋 Kasey's pants deserve their own Academy Award. And don't get me started on the coordinated outfits - Hailey in her blue dress, Edward with his blue tie - I died. Cute overload.
Jeffrey. Ugh. You lost her. Move on. But of course he waits until the last possible second to swoop in, dramatic rain included, for maximum effect. I rolled my eyes, but also, yes, give me the rain-drenched drama.
Anna (Ali Hamilton) is a gift. Tiny, slightly crazy, borderline dramatic - and yet somehow lovable. Knife stunt? Iconic. Extra points for chaos energy.
Bottom line: this movie is wild, romantic, revenge-filled, and absolutely chaotic in the best way. Girly squeals were had. Pants stared at. Tears shed. All the boxes checked. After His Affair, I Slept With His Best Friend is a chaotic, delicious mess, and I am HERE for it.

Tess, Kasey and Marc are fantastic in this film
Tess Dinerstein shines as Hailey opposite Marc Cotter's Jeffrey in this gripping romance-drama. After dating Jeffrey for five years, Hailey is injured in an accident. When Jeffrey arrives at the hospital, he brings along his best friend Edward (Kasey Esser) and Hailey's best friend Anna (Ali Hamilton). Hailey decides to play a trick by pretending she has amnesia. Jeffrey seizes the chance to cover up his affair with Anna, telling Hailey that Edward-not him-is her boyfriend. He warns Edward not to get too close, planning to enjoy the fling and eventually win Hailey back.
Edward, who never approved of Hailey as Jeffrey's girlfriend, surprises everyone by showing genuine care for her during the charade. Confused but touched, Hailey starts to notice the truth: Jeffrey and Anna have been seeing each other for some time. Determined to turn the tables, she sets out to seduce Edward. When Jeffrey discovers them together, his jealousy boils over. Anna, furious, confronts Hailey and accuses her of faking her memory loss. In a fiery, unforgettable scene, Hailey finally confesses she never had amnesia. Tess is absolutely fantastic here-her explosive delivery toward Anna is pure perfection.
Throughout the film, Tess portrays an incredible range of emotions-love, mistrust, hurt, vulnerability, and strength-making Hailey's journey a roller coaster worth watching. Marc Cotter gives an excellent performance as the selfish cad Jeffrey, even managing moments of attempted redemption. Ali Hamilton turns in a decent performance as Anna, though her tendency to overact occasionally distracts from the story.
The real stars, however, are Tess Dinerstein and Kasey Esser. Their chemistry is powerful, tender, and believable, elevating the film beyond a simple love-triangle trope. Kasey's Edward shows warmth and sincerity that makes the audience root for him.
Beautifully written, emotionally charged, and brought to life with standout performances, this film is an absolute must-watch.
