Elle Fanning in Mary Shelley (2017)

Trivia

Mary Shelley

Edit
Haifaa Al-Mansour was the first female Saudi director to direct a Hollywood film.
Mary Shelley may have met Percy Bysshe Shelley in Scotland, as the film shows. But this has never been confirmed.
Elle Fanning plays Bel Powley's character's older sister. In real life, Fanning is six years younger than Powley.
Mary Shelley also had an elder half-sister, Fanny Imlay, daughter of Mary Wollstonecraft by an earlier lover.
In 2014, it was announced Sophie Turner and Elle Fanning would be competing to play Mary Shelley. Turner's will focus on Shelley between the ages of 18 and 21 as she writes her classic novel and struggles to deal with its monstrous aftermath. Fanning's focuses on 17-year-old Mary Wollstonecraft's first love, in the form of the older Percy Bysshe Shelley. It was when producer Rose Ganguzza pointed out that the movie "is not a period drama," but "a gothic romance" that they went with Fanning.
