The release date was moved from September 22, 2017, to November 9, 2018, and then to September 11, 2019, before being canceled. It is currently unknown as to why the film was never made, but actor Christian Campbell (who was set to play Julian Mack) confirmed in early 2024 on his Threads account that the film "was never completed sadly."
Dennis Haysbert, Janet Hubert, Tobin Bell, Lili Mirojnick, and Rayven Symone Ferrell were originally rumored to be in the film. However, it is speculated that these were the "types" of actors the filmmakers were looking for.
