I really hate these cooking competitions where, halfway through, the judges throw a change into the mix. "Not only do you have to do in 6 hours what you'd normally do in 20, now you have to make something that dances and spews fireworks!" Or something like that. Just seems unfair and borderline sadistic, especially when our requires a complete pivot to design or baking. So can you guess what happens to the contestants in the middle of this one? Beyond that, it's nerve wracking watching some of these with the hoops they make them jump through. Well filmed and edited, great sound and music, cool judges and hosts.
Although I almost always like movies with Ms. Witherspoon and can generally tolerate Will Ferrell movies, this was an abomination. A sitcom setup that would never happen in 2024 unless everyone was idiots (possible) to swinging from adversaries to friends and back and forth again, add in a lot of cringe and really annoying characters and stereotypes, just fell flat and insulted the audience and the actors involved. The best part were the credits for the singing (stolen idea from Anyone But You) and the blissful knowledge that the movie was over finally. Peyton Manning was pretty good. So was the alligator.
