I don't understand this cartoon at all. Essentially, Porky is the villain, trying to chop down a tree in which a vaguely Bugs Bunny-esque squirrel makes his home. Our villain is a much-beloved regular character, and our hero is a generic wiseacre squirrel that we've never seen before. It's almost as if they were originally going to use Bugs, but decided he was too big to live in a tree, so they used Porky in the other role just to have a "star" in the picture. Also, most of the gags just plain aren't funny. The cartoon just kind of sits there until it's over, and then you forget about it. How this was chosen for the first Looney Toons DVD set over classics like Book Revue and the Great Piggy Bank Robbery, I'll never know.

It's been a dream of mine for years to see Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs, and I finally achieved that dream. A friend of mine somehow got a copy, and he burned one for me, and at the age of 18 my life is complete. No, I don't think little kids should see it, but I have to say, it lives up to every word of it's reputation. The voice acting and music are great. But what gets me the most is the sheer energy of the thing. It's just a rush for seven and a half minutes. The introductions of each new character are really great (especially Prince Chawmin's. Just exhilarating), and the dance number is spectacular as well. I'm still on a total high. Any fan of animation should see it. It's a great one.

I had the misfortune of seeing Gordy in the theater at the age of ten. Even then, I couldn't stand it. I saw part of it again the other day on TV. Wow, what a travesty. It was bad enough that the pig didn't actually move his mouth with the words, but you can actually hear him snort over his English. The performances are all horrifically over the top, the plot is ridiculous, there are terrible country songs, and, on at least one occasion, a "tree" that moves when leaned against.

If anyone ever tries to tell you that Gordy is "a good family film" or "almost as good as Babe" or any such thing, don't talk to that person anymore. They are not you're true friend. If you value your soul, steer clear of this epic shame of a picture at all costs.
