  • It was so big in Turkey

There was this big interest for soap operas in late 80's. Generations was the most important one. Newspapers and magazines went crazy when kelly rutherford came Turkey. Still it's very interesting, we Turks never really understood what was the big deal about having focus on African Americans. No one here remembers the series as a breakthrough from the race discrimination perspective. Yes there were Marshals and they were nice people and Adam and Maia were cool but that was all. It was just like any other series. We were really surprised when we learned that the show was somewhat a breakthrough...Anyway I still remember vividly all characters. All girls in Turkey were in love with Kyle Masters and there was this evil guy Reginald. I remember callin people you're so "reginald" even years after the shows ended

  • best film in years, kitano is a real artist

Well, yesterday I had the chance to see the dolls and with one word I was mesmerized. Mr Kitano did gather up a marvellous group of people. Yohji Yamamoto, one of the living legend of Japan, prepared wonderful costumes for all characters. The score was divine and cinematography was a unique masterpiece. I truly felt myself hypnotized by the power of images and music. Yet, I still think the person who has to credited for this heavenly masterpiece is Mr Kitano. Kitano uses every aspect of cinema wisely. Editing of the the movie, all those flashbacks and flashforwards are phenomenal. Three separate love stories are intertwined with a great harmony.

Mr Kitano and his heartbroken characters did break my heart and left me speechless. With the tears in my eyes I watched the dance of flying images. Dolls is a poem of images for sure and Takeshi Kitano is a rare director who can put his heart to his movie and become a poet.

  • Don't expect anything like "I Want You"

Honestly I'm disappointed. After "I Want You", after "Welcome to Sarajevo " what a choice, what a pathetic story telling.!?! Anyway who can be convinced that, having a baby is enough to survive a marriage. There's nothing special about this movie, no original plot, no original directing..nothing.A cheap type Hollywood movie, which wants to renew your confidence in marriage or stabled relationship...
