This is a SF-film where Laser weapons or Deep space fighting is not a topic at all. Nevertheless it is exciting and thrilling. Scientific thinking and mind dominates this wonderful novel of Carl Sagan. An outstanding work, where a young and tenacious radioastronomer finally receives undoubtlessly a signal from outer space. But that signal is not only a signal. It is a message, a book, which is slowly decoded by mankind. During that phase this film shows the controversy between science and religious behavior. Be sure, for a few moments you will be carried off this world and faster as you want, you feel back in reality. A fantastic film, which will leave a "bright hole" in your mind...
I saw this film on the German "Kinderkanal" (Children's Channel). But this film is not only made for children, its also for grown-ups, who should get thoughtful. Lisa, 10 years old, is told a lie, that her father lives in Rio de Janeiro, but actually he is in jail. Lisa really wants to see her father and undertakes everything to see him. She manages, and wants to fly alone, hiding the secret to her mother and the friend of the mother. A very lovely film with a surprising end, telling us: don´t tell lies to children.. recommendable
Coming back after being prisoner of war (WW2) for 13 years, his family, wife and 2 children, await him at the train station. He didn't know, that he also had a son, who is now 12 years old, because, when he left home for war, the boy was just growing in the womb. But things have changed. His wife is somehow distant. She is the head of a big business company, called Besser, and has learned to be a perfect and impressive chief. Finally he finds out with the help of a detective, that she has another man. Things go worse, when he falls in love with a stewardess... It is a nice film to see, not great, but good
