Simply put, this is Supernatural at its best. Supernatural at this point is kind of on page one hundred of the pointless quest arcs, and taking a break to tackle this "talking fantasy because you can't talk directly about big things" is what fantasy is for.

Great performances all around, great casting all around.

Strong pacing problems, loaded up with concepts, long, expository dialogue scenes.

Nothing can make ice skating scary.

Stock anti-Christian characters that react perfectly reasonably and get called the c-word.

Major plot hole about three fourths if the war through that undermines why they even stay in danger.

Needs to be cut down to a hundred minutes.

If you found this show because of Shawn Ryan and thought it might be like The Unit, this is not that kind of show.

Much more in the vein of 24, characters behave utterly implausibly, and actors struggle to make something of ridiculous and impenetrable dialog.

All that sounds like a bad review, but the charisma of the lead and the crazy plots carry it forward. Just don't go looking for a clever and taut spy thriller; for that, go watch The Agency.

Btw: one of the police drawings looks exactly like the cover of Songs from the Big Chair. Anyhow, watch the show, enjoy it, and you'll remember absolutely nothing from it.
