This is based on my seeing only the first episode so far... I will watch anything that Timothy Spall appears or stars in. He's such a good and reliable actor and he didn't disappoint me in this effort.

It's the kind of light,easy going murder mystery type of show that appeals to me...not unlike shows such as 'Murder She Wrote' or 'Poirot'.

There are some niggles however.

The main one is the character played by Gwyneth Keyworth,for two reasons.

First,when she first meets Spall,she ingratiates herself into his life in a really selfish and annoying manner and when he suggests this to her she blames him and ends the first encounter with rudeness.

Second,I can see why she needs to be a little eccentric but the constant flakiness,no matter who she's talking to,gets very waring quite quickly.

As I said.this is based solely on the first episode and I'm hoping that,as time goes on,these annoyances with play themselves out.

I hope so because it is in essence the type of show I usually really like to watch.

I don't think this film is quite as bad as some other reviewers have suggested.

Yes it's humour is often of the juvenile variety but that is appropriate for reasons I am about to provide.

There is nothing new or original here...all the situations depicted have been dramatised many times over the years to the point where they are now cliches.

Anyone gay over 25 will have seen it all before and will gain nothing from it,having seen it done much better.

However,I think it's target audience is,(or should be),young gay teens,many of whom will still be trying to navigate around the very situations depicted in the film...therefore it's jokey style will appeal to the young much more than to adults...to that extent the film has some value.

It's no 'Heartstopper' but it has it's place.

As a fan of murder mysteries and detective dramas I really wanted to like this...on paper it looked like the very thing I would watch.

Sadly I was very disappointed with it.

The plot was straight forward with no real twists or turns and the resolution was easy to spot fairly early on.

An easy uninvolved plot is fine for me as long as everything else was in it's proper place...but it wasn't.

My main problem was the lead character,played by Jackee Harry.

I just could not warm to her loud bosom heaving persona and her forced laugh reminded me very much of a British tv chef called Rusty lee,who I can't stand for the same reason.

Some of the acting verged on the am dram too.

There was a very small part for Tom Arnold as the police captain. He looked very tired and quite ill.

I won't be progressing beyond the first episode unless some other contributor can convince me I woud be missing a great improvement.

(Incidentally,I really like dramas that are filmed in Canada. There is something 'cleaner' about that country which is a refreshing change from the hovels we are usually treated to in US ones).
