A friend recommended this movie to me and I had heard parts of the soundtrack before, which I liked, so I gave it a shot. I don't know how to explain the range of emotions this movie fills me with. The actors are great, the singing, dancing, soundtrack, color themes, detail, everything is perfect.
The first time I watched it I gave it a solid 8/10. I saw more of it on YouTube and understood some of the brilliant details I missed and I pushed it up to a 9/10. Then I watched the movie once again and also learned the song "City of Stars" on the piano and now I completely fell in love which is why I pushed it even further up to 10/10.
I really regret not watching it sooner and I take back everything I said about musicals being boring.

Literally the best show I have ever watched. I have never seen casting as good as the casting of Dark. ALL of the actors are great. The scenes are shot beautifully. The eeriness of the environment is haunting. Apart from a few slow episodes, the series never loses it's spark.
Season 1 was amazing. Here we are introduced to all the characters. Keep in mind it's VERY IMPORTANT to memorize all the characters and names. With time it's going to get confusing. There's a lot of characters and many characters also have older/younger versions which makes it easy to lose track, if you don't have great photographic memory. Season 1 sets the theme and gets you hooked.
Season 1: 10/10
Season 2 makes everything more confusing. You get a few answers to questions about how, why and when(!) but there are still many unanswered ones. Some episodes are slow in this season but I would say it's for a good reason. The characters receive more depth and development. This season kind of builds up to the final season.
Season 2: 9/10
Season 3 This is the final season and this is where all your questions are answered. In this season it is more important than ever to keep track of all the characters. All the puzzle pieces are slowly put together. Most shows get worse for every season but Dark season 3 is probably the best out of the three.
Season 3: 10/10
Dark is objectively amazing. If you don't like it you either don't understand it or the genre isn't for you.

As I am writing this review I have only watched the first 3 episodes of season 3 but it's already much better than season 2.
Season 1 of the show was great. The acting was never very convincing to me but the plot, the tension and not understanding what was going on was very exciting. I like the idea the writers had with this show.
Season 1 gets 8/10.
Season 2 was extremely boring. I wanted to fast forward the whole season. Only thing that kept me going were my hopes that there would be a big event or plot twist coming. As mentioned, acting was not convincing and writing was bad. All the actors kept saying the same thing. "It's not your fault" "I can't- I just can't" and so on. Just the same sentences over and over again. Their reactions to things didn't make any sense and the emotional moments did not make me emotional, since the acting was mediocre.
Edit: one thing I forgot to add was that it really annoys me how the characters don't tell each other ANYTHING. They have hallucinations, discover stuff, encounter creatures but whenever someone asks them what they saw all they say is "uhh nothing, I promise it's nothing". If they just told each other what was going on maybe they could solve their problems quicker. Another aspect that lowered the rating for me.
Season 2 gets 3/10.
Anyways season 3 has been great so far. Acting is still not convincing but things are actually happening. They're shifting the focus from relationship issues to an actual plot and there's no boring filler episodes like in season 2. I have a feeling the rest of it will be just as good.
Season 3 (so far) gets 8/10.
My overall rating: 7/10.
