If you are looking for an exorcism horror movie without big expectation this one is a nice choice.
It is morderately good, but it should have worked more with the family dynamics and the problems to make the whole thing way more suspense. As a viewer you know way to soon what was going on except a little bit in the end. It is not bad by any means, there are some good moments in there, but they could have done more with the concept. Plotholes aside, there were good ideas about the demon that could have played way more with the viewers mind.
Some scenes were quite good but it is no mindblowing new exorcism movie.

If you hoped to see Jamie Lee Curtis in action or some great plot then you'll be disappointed.
However, it is a good movie with nice looking kills, appreciation for smaller roles and a build-up for the next movie but it could have been better in what it wanted to accomplish. The people in Haddonfield got to know the unstoppable force that is Micheal Myers while he is on his killing spree and you'll be thankful he does because of the frustrating and repetitive dialogue.
As a "stand-alone" the movie would be a catastrophy because of the plot and the even more annoying people than usual, but if you see it as a middle chapter and a homage to the other movies it is way more enjoyable. Michael, his kills and the Strode women are carrying the good parts of this movie and thank god quite a few people will die.
Nevertheless, the ending does make me exciting for the grand finale but i hope the director will get his intentions better across than in this one.
