Gee, another American cop show that a) has immediate violence unlike real life cops b)shows near naked body c)has female cop with inappropriate attire d) has a politician demanding attention and acting utterly inappropriately and soooo not even close to reality e) it's a cops 'last chance' bec she's obviously a naughty girl (how inept writers try to stir up sexual tension) f) has worshiping and bizarre staff.
All that in first 10 minutes. Garbage. I expect garbage but WOW, so much so soon is --- pathetic.
So what's next? We get to see why she's such a naughty Asian girl? Why bother to watch another minute. I would rather return to my usual stuff out of Europe. It is soooooo much better. Do better American Hollyweirdos.

If they could have replaced the DS/DI character sooner, the show would have gotten a higher rating. Bacchus was a repulsive person. Any DCI/police department would have suspended him more often.
Second, the gal who plays the constable/DS is superb! Great actress and the writer dug deep into women's treatment back then. I lived in London '66-68 as a kid and Madrid until '70 (run by the Fascist Franco). My memories of Lindon were of the clothes, women marching, the news of workers unionizing (we discussed a lot in our flat), and of the wonderful Bobbies in our neighborhood. They really watched out for us kids.
Seeing this show oddly takes me back and helps me see how it was and how hard women had to fight to be seen and heard and AND believed. RESPECT. So much respect for the women and the men who supported them forcing equal treatment.
So sad Gently didn't get another wife. Lovely character and actor. So, worth the watch. It's hard as a gal to watch, but necessary too.

He can be so many people. Many actors simply have one personality and are themselves vs the characters. He is magnificent, truly. I hope he gets a dozen awards. Remarkable, truly likable and respectful actor.
Many others were terrific. I simply must just point out Winston. Imagine even attempting to play him? Good Hod, he was a legend, his characteristics were believed or hated but KNOWN. How did Lithco do It? Make it his own? What I wouldn't give for a real interview to watch.
Marvelous show. Hard to watch. Kept me thinking about the Monarchy, it's expensive role, it's importance and always...Princess Diana. I go there always. Everything leads there for me.
I lived in London with my parents. When Kennedy was shot we watched on the tv. I was 7. Meant nothing to me but my Mum was sad. Great show. Pity it didn't last longer. Get why.
