Every now and again something comes along that really grabs my attention, and Shardlake is the latest programme to do it.
I was drawn in from the first minute, and didn't lose interest at all, I was pretty much glued to the screen.
I haven't read the books, but Arthur Hughes seemed very well cast, I found him both believable and likeable, and the character had an edge, which I guess a disabled person would have had to have back in those days in order to both survive and thrive.
The sets and costumes were wonderful, giving the whole production a fantastic atmosphere, and it was well paced.
My only disappointment was to find that there are to be no more programmes made, which is a real shame, it should have been given more time to develop and find its audience.
Great stuff.

I became aware of this after reading about Big Stan, which I watched and thought was hilarious,so I bought a copy of this.
What a mistake, this is truly the worst comedy I have ever seen, in fact, it's possibly the worst film I've ever seen period, it has no redeeming features whatsoever.
I kept waiting for the laughs, but they never came. Both leads looked awkward and aware of how poor it all was.
I've never been a big fan of either of the lead actors, but this has to be a career low for both of them.
I've tried to think of some positive aspects to this film, but can't think of a single one. What a waste of an hour and forty minutes.

I was told by a friend this would be my kind of comedy, and they were not wrong!
With a unique plot, great acting and laughs a plenty,I can't believe this isn't held in higher regard than it is.
The laughs start from the off, but be warned, if you don't like crude, adult oriented comedy, this isn't for you! Dating from 2007, I do wonder if it would get made today.although it's good hearted in nature, and not nasty like some comedies from this period.
The mark of a good comedy is how much I laugh and if I'd want to watch it again, and it's two affirmatives on both from me!
I liked it that much,I'm now on the lookout for a sensibly priced blu ray of it,as that has extras that my DVD doesn't.
Highly, highly recommended!
