I am sure this is meant to be a serious drama but I am finding it hilarious. David Tennant, the vicar, is outstandingly daft and his wife seems more interested in feeding the victim rather than releasing her. The prison scenes are a hoot, the convict lawyer (Stanley Tucci) and his fellow inmate (Atkins Estimond) with the photographic memory are absolutely brilliant together.
This is a refreshingly different type of drama with a great script and excellent acting. All the characters are like caricatures of real people but they are all also believable in a strange way. Even the supporting and non speaking members of the cast play their parts really well. Can't wait for the next episode!

This has to be the single most boring serial I have ever watched. I have struggled through two of the episodes but I won't be tuning in again. How could competent actors like Sean Bean and Nicola Walker have agreed to be a part of this. The mumbling and long silences in the conversations are very annoying and not necessary. Sorry, BBC, but this drama is a total failure on all counts.
Lots of weak characters in this, especially the police. I felt the drama concentrated too much on the main actor who wasn't very good. The supporting cast, the mother, son and drug dealer saved it from totally bombing. This was a good idea but didn't quite gel for me. I watched all of the episodes but the ending was very predictable. There was just something missing from the start.
