An underrated piece of foreign queer cinema! I stumbled across this film on a "disturbing movie" binge and was surprised with a genuinely fun and heartwarming little musical with absolutely lovely cinematography and music. Absolutely lovely!
You would think that when a shock series alike this hits a 9th entry, that it would be finding ways to be innovative or give us things we haven't seen a million times before. Unfortunately, that is not the case with this series. In my opinion, Death File is somewhat overrated when it comes to this type of shock and gore exploitation, and this film is honestly the epitome of that. Despite being the first film I saw in the series, Red already felt tiresome and drawn out. I'm sure that if this was the first film I saw like this, maybe I would be more shocked or impressed, however this film (and pretty much all of the Death File series in all honesty) is simply the worst thing a film like this can be- boring and plain. You're better off watching something like Junk Films if you're looking for actually good, gore-filled Japanese documentary.
