This game is and has basically everything you want from a Tomb Raider-esque action game: Good graphics, fun gameplay, intriguing story, action, humor, tension, and great characters with equally great voice acting!

In short: just one of the best Playstation games you can get if you're into these type of games, or just want to try one. And yes, you miss some charater context and backstory without having played the first 3 parts, but this still works as a standalone game!

Where do I even start... most of the shootouts and climbing sections are just so insanely fun and packed with action - especially those where everything is falling apart around you and you simultaneously need to defeat enemies!

Some of my favourite moments where the Clock tower climb and the absolutely insane chase scene afterwards, the last shootout in Scotland, the watchtower when you're getting shot at with RPGs, ... just to name a few - the game is packed with great moments like this.

One aspect I really like is how the game often allows multiple angles and strategies when approaching enemies (a common feature of all the recent Naughty Dog Games, especially in TLoU2 this aspect is marvelous): You can be straight forward and gun everyone down like John Wick and dodge everything like Neo with cool rolls, you can just use your hands to sneak kill everyone in silence, use the environment to your advantage, and mix everything up depending on what suit you best at any given moment.

Traversal is one of the most iconic features of the Uncharted series and while it has already been done really well before, Uncharted 4 improves it even more - the free climbing is just so impressive and intuitive! Plus we even got a grappling hook now, how awesome is that?

Another quality of life feature some games definitely lack: Your partners you're forced to be with for the most part of the game actually do something useful in combat. Moreover, it's really cool to see how they climb, slide n sling just like you to get where you need to go!

There are only a few cons to this game and they're relatively minor. For once, I do miss a little dodge option (instead of just dodge rolling, this seems a bit ridiculous in close combat situations) and a counter / parry for hand to hand combat in this game (I believe Uncharted 3 had one).

Another small complaint is the inability to backtrack sometimes when you "accidentally" got the right way and wanted to go back for exploration and a potential treasure. I ran into a few invisible walls and such from time to time but after all it's a linear story game and no open world title - so that's only a minor issue. Most importantly, once you finished the game you can always go back and play selected chapters again.

Other than these nitpicks I don't have anything bad to say about Uncharted 4, truly a masterpiece and probably THE best game of its genre, at least from the ones I've both seen and played myself.

All there's left for me to say is: Please give this game a shot!

You will most certainly enjoy it if you're at least a little bit into action adventures or finally want to give the genre in general a try. I was blown away the first time I played it and it's just as good the second time!
