I actually really enjoyed this, but i also agree with karolina's (the director) criticisms of it.
It has incredible potential, but more as a feature than a short. It would help a lot with the pacing and how thrown together and cramped it feels.
Poppy is absolutely adorable and clearly has a bigger story to tell, but the short doesn't give her time to do that or have her development we see jump cuts of. She also gave up her passion for wanting to be a painter's muse way too quickly. Again, this has to do with the pacing issues caused by the limited time available in the short.
The potential is there, but it would work miles better as a feature film.

As the headline of this review states, I found this short to be beautiful and quite realistic.
It's a story that is happening right now. It's happening to so many people around us. It's reality.
The cinematography is gorgeous. The sound design and acting are fantastic. I'm so overly in love with this short film. I can't even form enough words to express it thoroughly!
I'm mutuals on Letterboxd and Instagram with one of the actors in this, and I can't express how proud I am of him. Absolutely killed it! All the hard work paid off. I can't wait to see what comes next in his career.
I just... Everyone needs to watch this.

A really good movie.
It felt really slow at the beginning and in the scenes with Conor's dad. It was also really hard to hear whenever the Monster wasn't on screen. I don't know if that was just a problem with my family's speakers, or if it's just how the movie actually is.
The VFX were incredible, as well as the acting. The plot was suspenseful.
It was emotional.
