  • Absolute Cinema

I've never seen an Iranian movie like The old Bracher in my whole cinematic life. Even I watched Maybe all of Iranian movies but there is nothing like this. That was spectacular. Absolute Cinema. I recommend it to the world as an amazing experiment. You won't blink while watching. It has unforgeable scenario, mind blowing actors such as Mr Poorshirazi.the music has feeling. It's related to the contain scene the movie doesn't have any additional or annoying scene.althiu It has only three location and the most of the movie is just in one. I haven't seen anything except Cinema, interest and goods. Watch it in Cinema.

  • 🎬 Oldboy (2003) - A Visual Masterpiece with a Flawed Message

Oldboy, directed by Park Chan-wook, is a film that grabs the viewer from the very first frame and refuses to let go until the devastating end. On a technical level, it is nothing short of a masterpiece. Choi Min-sik's performance as Oh Dae-su stands among the greatest in cinema history - a haunting portrayal of pain, rage, and confusion that forces the audience to empathize with a man on the edge.

Park Chan-wook's direction is meticulous, layered with meaning and style in every shot. From the claustrophobic setting of the private prison to the iconic corridor fight, each scene feels like a living painting. The cinematography and lighting create an atmosphere drenched in dread, while Jo Yeong-wook's melancholy score underscores the characters' internal wounds.

Yet, beneath its poetic and philosophical surface, the film's core message left me unsettled. Oldboy tells a tale of revenge, identity, and guilt, but ultimately seems to legitimize the survival of monsters rather than confronting their evil. The film's conclusion, wrapped in tragic beauty, conveys an uncomfortable notion - that monsters can and perhaps should endure. For all its artistic brilliance, this idea felt deeply unjust to me.

The film's emotional climax, where Oh Dae-su degrades himself to unthinkable depths - kissing the feet of his enemy, barking like a dog, and even cutting out his own tongue - is unforgettable. It's a scene that will linger in the memory of cinema, but it also poses a disturbing question: at what cost does survival come, and what does that say about justice?

Oldboy is essential viewing - a film to admire for its craftsmanship, but also one that demands critical reflection on its troubling themes. Cinema is not only about form; it is about substance. And here, the substance leaves room for serious doubt.

  • A Truly Wonderful Experience - Wes Anderson at His Best

The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar is a masterclass in storytelling and visual artistry. From the very first frame, Wes Anderson immerses you in a world that feels like a vibrant storybook come to life. The plot is simple yet profound, unfolding with a charm that only Anderson can deliver - for that, it deserves nothing less than a perfect 10.

The characters are brought to life with subtlety and precision. Despite the short runtime, you connect deeply with Henry and the supporting figures, thanks to both the screenplay's sharpness and the stellar performances - again, full marks for acting and character development.

Anderson's direction is flawless; his signature style of symmetrical shots, pastel palettes, and theatrical staging shines throughout the film. Every scene feels like a painting - I found myself pausing just to take in the cinematography and production design, which is undoubtedly worth a 10.

The screenplay and dialogue are tight, witty, and poetic in moments, capturing Dahl's original spirit perfectly.

Where the film didn't fully resonate with me was the sound design and music. While fitting the mood, I felt this aspect lacked the same depth and creativity found in the visual and narrative elements.

In terms of theme, the story offers reflections on greed, purpose, and transformation, though it doesn't delve as deeply into these ideas as it could have. Still, the originality and imaginative approach make it a refreshing watch.

Overall, The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar is a delightful, inspiring short that reminds us of the magic of cinema. It's a film I wholeheartedly recommend - especially to those who appreciate craft, heart, and a touch of whimsy.

    🎬 My Score: 9.2/10.
