  • Dangers of the Beyonder World

Supernatural power, human-surpassing abilities, abstract concepts, knowledge of the beyond, and unnatural instincts are some of the powers that come with being a beyonder. If I were in high school, would this not be the coolest thing to become? But this, and the other episodes in this later part of the series have been touching upon the dark side of the beyonder world. Mysteries, horror, evil gods, corruption, temptation and now, it touches upon the prospect of what happens when your own ally, someone you share dinner with, becomes a monster after being corrupted? This episode follows one of the members of our Nighthawks getting corrupted, by what? The Hidden Sage. The show gave this information rather indirectly, Crester Cesimir, Klein's test-taker told him to be careful of taint from the high sequence beyonder of his pathway, in case they may be evil existences. While Klein himself may not have any need of that yet, another Nighthawk member from the Mystery Pryer pathway was indeed getting tainted by his pathway's 'deity' level figure (I think), The Hidden Sage. It shows the absolute fear and dominance of a high sequence beyonder within one's pathway, and we have already seen how Zaratul may be connected to the fate etched for Klein, which could very well be a taint from him to a lower sequence beyonder of the Seer pathway.

Regardless, this episode focused on the emotional aspect of losing one's comrade to corruption, and needing to eradicate them of it. It is a painful episode and perhaps a reality for many in the beyonder world, this is just the start of what awaits for us.

  • Something's Stirring

There's a tension in the air now, what diverges must converge and it seems the tension that founded LOTM's plot is converging for the season finale now. As the pacing gets better and better, we're slowly heading to the grand finale. Once more we learn about the horrors of the world, including that of Losing Control. Such a fate awaits all beyonders, strong or weak, how does one keep their head calm in this environment? We learn about the dangers of the Beyonder world, mysteries, dark rituals, random moments that make you lose control of yourselves, sights that shouldn't be seen and ideas that shouldn't be grasped.

As we slowly uncover the mastermind behind it all, Klein decides to take the step of reaching sequence 8. I for one cannot wait for the next episode, I heard they're also planning to show off episode 9-13 in a Cinema in China? That's just cool, 2-3 hours of the season finale in one sitting. The next episode will be the bell of the end.

  • It's all coming together

This is the episode where LOTM begins to approach a route different from that of other anime. Most shows usually make convenient use of plot armor and deus ex machina to summon important plot lines, events and characters conveniently for the main character so as to have the story progress.

LOTM seemed to be on the same track, with the past episodes, Klein was able to become a part of many supernatural events. As watchers, we usually laugh off higher level thinking when we watch these shows thinking along the lines of "dont our protagonist's friends feel that he's always caught up in too many things?" which is usually always the case. The main character appears and every event ends up being attracted to him, but being used to such developments we only consider it as a way to progress the story, a forced progression so to speak.

But this episode changed it all. Klein becomes aware of the many coincidences he's been facing since coming into this world, his teammates point out to him clearly that ever since he joined, the number of events they've faced have been more than they would in a usual season. Events aren't there just to progress our main character, have him become stronger, but are a part of something much bigger in scale with Klein being a part of it. The scope of the world instantly enlarges as all the previous events that have occurred so far seemingly seem connected, who is the true mastermind? Is there more than one mastermind? The special things that occur around Klein no longer seem forced, but deliberately put in, who are the real players in this world? And has Klein simply become an aware 'NPC' in a much larger game?

There's no need to talk about the animation and the production quality, it only seems to get better, but this episode was perhaps the most special of them all because it didn't follow the normal trope. This is more akin to the basement reveal in AOT. There's already a lot I managed to get from this episode, each theory leaves me more wide-eyed than the other. The show has already been able to plant a lot of different points that keep the watchers engaged, such as the mysteries of the Antigonus, The Nation of Evernight, Secret Order, Zaratul, and a lot more.
